MINI Cooper SD finally arrives - in all variants
There have been times since we first flagged up the possibility of a Cooper S version of the MINI complete with diesel lump – the MINI Cooper SD – that we thought we might be barking up the wrong tree. It always seemed the sensible route to go as the world become obsessed with economy, but didn’t seem inclined to give up a bit of style and kudos. It would also – at a stroke – add a new version to each model in the MINI range.
Ford will use a little navigation wizardry on two of its hybrids: the C-Max Energi plug-in and Fusion. The system will use GPS data and an algorithm to predict when a driver is close frequented destinations. The car will adjust powertrain controls to maximize efficiency.Ford calls the feature EV+, which is part of SmartGauge, standard on the Fusion Energi and C-Max Energi plug-ins and on hybrid models.
Vauxhall today confirmed it will launch a new convertible called Cascada in 2013. Although based on the running gear, it's actually longer than an Audi A5 Convertible – launching Vauxhall and Opel back into the full-size cabrio market for the first time since the 1930s.
